The Thrill of it All(1963)

The Thrill of It All (1963).Romantic/comedy. Director: Norman Jewison. Cast: Doris Day, James Garner, Arlene Francis, and ZaSu Pitts. The screenplay was written by Larry Gelbart and Carl Reiner.

The story centers around housewife Beverly Boyerand and her husband Gerald, a gynecologist. Beverly is offered the opportunity to star in a television soap commercial. After one problem after another, she gets a contract for $80,000 per year to perform weekly on TV commercials. Soon things get out of hand. Gerald becomes jealous and hates her working, taking time from him and the kids. The final blowup comes when Gerald accidentally drives his car into a swimming pool that had been installed that afternoon. Angry, he kicks boxes of "Happy Soap" into the pool and by morning the house is surrounded by soapsuds.

Loved Doris costumes. I also thought there was wonderful chemistry between Garner and Day. My favorite scene is where Doris finally loses her temper over her husband's jealousy.
